Rachel Oliver presents a transgender themed music show for those who are trans themselves, those who are allies of the trans community and those who simply want to learn more about the trans community, which includes facts, stories and some amazing songs!
"Hi Rachel here. I'm a mature transwoman. I'm also dual national Anglo-Australian from Perth on the West coast so you might pick out a west coast Aussie inflection poking through my broad Rochdale vowels. Ask me to Say 'Straya, barbie or the number sux or noine and you'll get the picture. I love pin-up style fashion and wear it often in the summer when its not freezing cold.
I was a trained Nurse for many years and still maintain a healthcare connection. I've also been a specialist Militaria dealer and a book seller too. So all passions turned into work.
I'm a big fan of music and have very eclectic tastes which are reflected in my music choices for my shows. You can expect Anything from Glenn Miller, Swing, Pop Jazz, Rockabilly, Movie themes, 60s pop, 70s disco, 80s new wave and Right through and beyond as I might chuck in the odd track I've discovered in more recent stuff. I especially like doing themed shows, they're great fun and sometimes unusual with plenty of quips and subtleties so you have to listen carefully, hopefully there's a theme for you too.
My show series 'My Genderation' is for mature trans people, our allies and anyone else interested in what it's all about. It features a mythbusting section in each show and a transgender pioneer mini biography so you get to know the famed who's who in my community.
Please tune in, it's warm, welcoming and you'll be entertained and informed."
